Update 11- The Bad Days

I guess my previous post was a bit early to share my Phoenix Rising picture, as she hadn't descended yet. After the transplant, they told us Days +5 thru +14 were likely to be the worst. 

It was just the two of us here as the bad days fell upon her. It's sort of a blur now, and I usually try to be more eloquent- but finding words is hard at the moment, so I'll do my best.

Amri's Bone Marrow Transplant

Hi everyone! Amri received her transplant yesterday.  A lot of you had questions, so I will give you a little rundown on how the procedure played out for Amri's particular situation (our understanding, anyway.)

Update 9- In & Out and Out & About

A long post, but the past couple of weeks have been pretty eventful. Amri had several procedures; Brad, Michael, and Hava came to visit; we took them out exploring; Amri turned 18; we moved from our hotel in downtown to our room at the Childrens Inn, and then to her inpatient room in the hospital; Amri began chemotherapy; and we got some unfortunate news in my family.

Update 8- First Week of the Big Stay

Update 7- Last Trip/Next Trip

Here are the girls on Black Friday, wearing the punny jammie tops I made them for our Christmas season kick-off lazy day of tree trimming, cheese boarding, and movie watching. I'm super proud of my puns, y'all. I have mom delusions of my girls wearing these every Christmas for all eternity. 

Update 6- Forgotten Post/Thankful

Things were a little chaotic when we first got back from the fertility preservation trip early this fall. When we got back, I had to finish the girls' Halloween costumes, then we had Michael's 40th birthday, a small leak damaged both of the kids' rooms (ruining Amri's bed), and our health insurance

Update 5- Home Again

We returned from Amri's fertility preservation trip to the National Institutes of Health (Maryland) October 11. The 2 weeks since then have been jam packed- Amri with band performances and catching up at

Update 4- Leaving for Fertility Preservation

Well, we're officially on the next leg of our journey! This morning Amri and I flew to Maryland to start her fertility preservation. We're mostly in good spirits. Three different typos on our itinerary had us laughing when we put them all together- "Amir Carassco's Schuedle..."

Update 3- Wig Consultation

We want to give a huge shout out to everyone for their love so far on our GATA2 Deficiency journey!
Thanks to your support, last week Amri was able to select a wig. Her order is currently being processed!
