I apologize, as I have not updated our medical blog in a very long time. I fully intend to, especially to document this journey, but the global pandemic sort of threw a wrench in things.

Amri had her transplant January 23, 2020 and we returned home to Texas midApril 2020. She is recovering well, but will continue being seen by NIH for the next two years, and by her local Dallas team for the next three years. Currently she has an appointment about once a month.

Update 4- Leaving for Fertility Preservation

Well, we're officially on the next leg of our journey! This morning Amri and I flew to Maryland to start her fertility preservation. We're mostly in good spirits. Three different typos on our itinerary had us laughing when we put them all together- "Amir Carassco's Schuedle..."

We had breakfast with Michael and Hava and then they brought us to the airport. When we got to our gate, this sweet doggo was excited to say hello. His name is Sherlock and he works detecting explosives for arson related crimes and he was on our flight, headed to his new home. Sherlock gave me lots of slobbers and demanded a belly rub. Our own beloved black lab, Emmitt, went to doggie heaven just yesterday morning. He was our family dog for over fourteen and a half years, so I have to say that being greeted at the gate by waggy-tailed Sherlock was quite serendipitous. I even shed a little tear.

Amri and I are on the shuttle to the hospital right now, and then to our hotel. Looking forward to a big bowl of pasta for dinner! No lunch today, with all the traveling- but we did get to have a stroopwaffle on the plane, and who doesn't love a stroopwaffle?

Thank you so much to everyone who has shown their love. We have received so many words of love, offers of airline points, monetary donations, and a fantastic box of yarn. Your support does so much to lift Amri's spirits, and we are grateful to every one of you! In GoFundMe news- We are a over a third of the way to our guesstimated financial goal. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
