I apologize, as I have not updated our medical blog in a very long time. I fully intend to, especially to document this journey, but the global pandemic sort of threw a wrench in things.

Amri had her transplant January 23, 2020 and we returned home to Texas midApril 2020. She is recovering well, but will continue being seen by NIH for the next two years, and by her local Dallas team for the next three years. Currently she has an appointment about once a month.

Update 2- Who We Are: the Carrascos

Many of you already know us, but for those of you that don’t, we are a close-knit family from Texas.

We like going on road trips, and playing games. We’re into nature, and have a thing for iced tea. We regularly and repeatedly watch Bob’s Burgers (that show really hits the nail on the head when it
comes to family dynamic). But more than anything, we like being together.

I’m Mandy- my strengths include momming, crafting, and being late for stuff. Michael has been my quick-witted and wickedly handsome hubby for going on 20 years. He plays the guitar and knows absolutely everything about lighting.

We have two lovely daughters, both of whom would be delighted to be handed a screw driver and some random thing you want disassembled. Amri, our precocious oldest, spent years volunteering at the zoo and has grown into a charming, marimba playing, crochet hook wielding 17 year old. Hava- the little sister- can be found sprawled out on the carpet, drawing things she saw on YouTube, or plucking out a diddy on her violin, or practicing pirouettes. Current sisterly hobbies include playing Fallout together, and mastering the art of eyeliner.

We live in the suburbs with our elderly black lab (Emmitt), a scruffy blonde muttlet named Schloppy Joe, and a nine year old hermit crab.
